5c Brown (J4). Mint N.H., rich color, sharp impression, wide margins for this difficult issueEXTREMELY FINE MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1879 5-CENT BROWN POSTAGE DUE ISSUE. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT OF ALL POSTAGE DUE STAMPS TO OBTAIN IN CENTERED, MINT NEVER-HINGED CONDITION.
A review of our computerized records shows we have only offered three other Mint N.H. stamps, only one of which could be considered Extremely Fine.
With 1983 and 1999 P.F. certificates. With 2004 P.S.E. certificate (VF-XF 85; SMQ $2,700.00). This is the highest grade awarded to date by P.S.E. to a Mint N.H. stamp, and this is the only example to achieve this grade. The SMQ value is very conservative given its rarity.
