Two singles, used with two 2c Brown (113), all tied by rosette cancels on on small 1870 cover to Lima, Peru, red crayon "24" credit, "Lima 4 MZO 1870" receiving datestamp on back, small edge tear at top is inconsequentialVERY FINE. A STRIKING AND RARE COMBINATION OF 2-CENT AND 15-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE STAMPS ON A 34-CENT RATE COVER TO PERU BY AMERICAN AND BRITISH PACKET, FROM THE DAVIS CORRESPONDENCE.
The 34c rate prepaid 10c U.S. postage to Panama by American Packet and the 24c British Packet charge for service to Peru. The rate was superseded by the 22c rate in March 1870.
