L. W. Pilcher to R. P. Ingersoll, Dundee Mich., sender's directive "Via Japan", "U.S. Postal Agency * Shanghai * 30 Nov. 88" double-oval datestamp, magenta "San Francisco Cal. Paid All Dec. 22" datestamp and "Dundee Mich. Dec. 27 1888" receiving datestamp on back, very minor toning, Very Fine, the U.S. Postal Agency Tientsin marking is rare, this cover comes from the same correspondence as lot 2053, accompanied by letters from Reverend Pilcher to his family including transcribed Chinese song and verse (they are dated Nov. 28, 1876, and Nov. 7, 1888, and do not appear to belong with this cover), ex Risvold
