Full strike of red framed Type A handstamp with matching "New York Paid Nov. 23" (1859) circular datestamp on blue folded letter to Captain Josiah Crocker of the ship Raven in care of Olyphant & Co., Hong Kong, China, sender's directive "Overland Mail via Marseilles", red crayon "24" credit crossed out and re-rated "34" credit for 39c rate via Marseilles--carried on Cunarder Asia, departing New York Nov. 23, 1859, arriving Liverpool Dec. 4--manuscript "1" British Colonial credit, red "London Paid DE 5 59" circular datestamp, blue "Hong Kong JA 30 60" receiving datestamp on back, letter instructs Capt. Crocker to proceed to Singapore if his cargo cannot be sold for $10 per ton in Hong Kong, also requests he return with coffee, some minor splitting along folds, Very Fine, this is an extremely rare use of the New York "Supplementary Mail" marking on mail to China
