Sale 1197, Lot 1610, 1857-60 Issue (Scott 18-39)1c Blue, Ty. III (21). Plate 4, rich color and bright paper, sharp impression, light strike of blue town datestamp, centered slightly to left but showing clear breaks at top and bottom

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. AN ATTRACTIVE EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 ONE-CENT PERFORATED TYPE III STAMP WHICH CLEARLY SHOWS THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TYPE.

Due to narrow spacing on the plate, examples of this type often have the perforations cutting into the outer lines at either top or bottom or both. The example offered here clearly presents the characteristics of the type.
