It is important to look at the individual data points listed below. Price swings up may be due to varieties such as broken hat or other positives such as cancels. Price swings down may be due to factors such as faults on items that would have graded higher if they were sound, and may not be considered as desirable as a sound copy in this grade.
When looking at multiple grades on the graph, grades with the same population numbers may show overlapping.
At the time of an auction, the SMQ value has already been published and is available to bidders. Increases or decreases in SMQ value prior to the auction may affect the price realized.

Clear grill with much better than usual perfs for this issue (most recent certificate notes short perfs at left), bright color, neat blue rosette cancel, additional manuscript, Very Fine, with 2003 P.F. and 2007 P.S.E. certificates (G-VG 40; unpriced in SMQ), the highest grade awarded is one at 70, which has an SMQ value of $5,000.00, this is one of the best-centered examples we have encountered
3c Rose, A. Grill (79). Clearly-defined grill points covering the entire stamp, perfs in far better condition than usual for this issue, wide interpane straight-edge margin at right, bright color, neat strike of circular datestamp

With 1998 and 2007 P.S.E. certificates (VG-F 60; SMQ $2,500.00 as 50, $5,000.00 as 70). This is the highest grade awarded and two others share it.
3c Rose, A. Grill (79). Rich color, neat strike of hollow star fancy cancel, typical irregular perfs, Fine, with 2006 P.S.E. certificate (G30) which states "several perf faults top and left", knowledgeable collectors will recognize this as normal condition for the overall grill, the example offered here is far less "faulty" than the vast majority seen
