A PHENOMENAL MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT TRANS-MISSISSIPPI ISSUE GRADED GEM 100 JUMBO BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE POSSIBLE ON THE GRADING CHART AND IT IS THE ONLY EXAMPLE TO ACHIEVE IT.
Our review of the Trans-Mississippi Issue in the P.S.E. Population Report revealed just how spectacular this stamp truly is. There is only one other example from the entire series (either Mint N.H. or hinged) that has been graded Gem 100J - a Mint N.H. 1c. A further review shows that there are only seven stamps in the entire series (again, Mint N.H. or hinged) that have been awarded a Gem 100 grade.

P.S.E. encapsulated (Superb 98 Jumbo; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 98, SMQ $2,500.00 as 98). This is the highest grade awarded to date in the P.S.E. Population Report and only two others share this grade. Considering how common the basic 2c Trans-Mississippi stamp is, this low population speaks volumes about the difficulty of finding truly superb examples of this issue in Mint N.H. condition.

Mint N.H., radiant color, perfectly centered with wide margins, Extremely Fine Gem, a surprisingly difficult issue to find in such a high grade, with 2008 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98; SMQ $2,500.00), only five have graded higher (four at 98J and one at 100) and only six others share this grade, this is a very small population of high-grade stamps considering how plentiful the 2c stamps are; this demonstrates how difficult they are to find in such superb condition
