Price History for US Scott 213 in OGnh 85 Grade
Show Grade on Graph
Show all gradesThree things to keep in mind when looking at the above results (unsolds are not included):
- It is important to look at the individual data points listed below. Price swings up may be due to varieties such as broken hat or other positives such as cancels. Price swings down may be due to factors such as faults on items that would have graded higher if they were sound, and may not be considered as desirable as a sound copy in this grade.
- When looking at multiple grades on the graph, grades with the same population numbers may show overlapping.
- At the time of an auction, the SMQ value has already been published and is available to bidders. Increases or decreases in SMQ value prior to the auction may affect the price realized.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE FINEST EXTANT MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1887 2-CENT AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY ISSUE. THIS STAMP IS GRADED GEM 100 BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED AND THE ONLY EXAMPLE TO ACHIEVE THIS PERFECT GRADE.
With 1997 P.F. and 2017 P.S.E. certificates (Gem 100; unpriced in SMQ, SMQ $5,100.00 as 98J). This is the highest grade awarded and no others share it. The next-highest is a single example graded 98J (realized $6,000 hammer in our 2016 "Hanover" sale), followed by a single example graded 95J (never offered in our sales) followed by a few graded 95. The low population numbers at the higher end of the scale is an excellent indication for how rare this is in such superb condition.
