Price History for US Scott 13 in Used 90J Grade
Show Grade on Graph
Show all gradesThree things to keep in mind when looking at the above results (unsolds are not included):
- It is important to look at the individual data points listed below. Price swings up may be due to varieties such as broken hat or other positives such as cancels. Price swings down may be due to factors such as faults on items that would have graded higher if they were sound, and may not be considered as desirable as a sound copy in this grade.
- When looking at multiple grades on the graph, grades with the same population numbers may show overlapping.
- At the time of an auction, the SMQ value has already been published and is available to bidders. Increases or decreases in SMQ value prior to the auction may affect the price realized.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. EASILY ONE OF THE FINEST USED 1855 10-CENT TYPE I IMPERFORATE STAMPS WE HAVE EVER OFFERED. A BREATHTAKING GEM.
For some unknown reason, even though the 10c Type I stamps come from the bottom row of the sheet, most have the sheet margin trimmed. The stamp offered here, with its wide sheet margin and enormous margins on all sides, is a true condition rarity.
With 1993 and 2005 P.F. certificates. With 2008 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98 Jumbo; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 98, SMQ $7,100.00 as 98). This is the highest grade awarded to date.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1855 10-CENT TYPE I IN THE FINEST CONDITION POSSIBLE.
The 10c Type I stamps are defined as having complete scrolls at bottom. They are only found on the bottom row of the plate (20 positions). For some reason, they were usually trimmed at bottom when they were separated, leaving a dearth of quality copies. This example, with its enormous margins, is an extreme exception to the rule.
Ex Kirke. With 2011 P.F. and 2010 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98; SMQ $6,250.00). Only one grades higher (at 98J) and only four others share this grade.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN OUTSTANDING SHEET-MARGIN EXAMPLE OF THE 1855 10-CENT TYPE I FROM THE BOTTOM RIGHT POSITION OF THE LEFT PANE, GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E.
The 10c Type I is defined as having a complete shell at bottom right and was produced only from the bottom row of the plate (20 positions). Although Type I comes from sheet-margin positions, examples almost always have the extra sheet margin cut away. This stamp could be the only centerline sheet-margin example of Scott 13 graded 95 or better (we cannot tell from the P.S.E. Population Report). A Power Search review failed to locate another centerline sheet-margin stamp of this grade or comparable quality.
With 2015 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $2,600.00).

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1855 10-CENT TYPE I. SCARCE WITH THE SHEET MARGIN.
The 10c Type I stamps only come from the 20 bottom-row positions of Plate 1. One would expect to find more copies with the bottom sheet margin intact, but this is rarely the case. When the sheet margin is present, it usually has a corner crease or handling flaw. The example offered here, with large sheet margin in completely sound condition, is a true rarity.
With 1992 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $2,475.00 as 95, $4,800.00 as 98). Only six have graded higher and only two others shares this grade.

With 2010 P.F. and 2007 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $2,475.00 as 95, $4,800.00 as 98). While five stamps have graded higher at 98 (and one at 98J), this stamp, with Jumbo margins, is among the most striking we have encountered and, in our opinion, deserves a Superb 98 Jumbo grade.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1855 10-CENT TYPE I. SCARCE WITH THE SHEET MARGIN.
Although the 10c Type I positions come from the bottom of the sheet, for some reason most have had the sheet margin trimmed away.
With 1992 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $3,400.00 as 95, $7,100.00 as 98). Only three have graded higher to date and only one other shares this grade.
