Byrd, Bernt Balchen and George Otto Noville --5c Roosevelt stamp tied by "New York, N.Y. G. P. O., Jun. 21 2PM 1927" duplex, typed "New York to Paris via Airplane 'America'", attractive cachet of a biplane with "U.S. Mail" on side, "Ver-su-Mer 2-7 27" receiving circular datestamp, fresh and Very Fine, rare signed by the three pilots and with the stamp, the America, carrying official airmail across the Atlantic for the first time, was a monoplane that completed its transatlantic flight exactly one month after the Spirit of St. Louis made its historic solo trip, she was forced down off the coast after circling Paris (unable to land due to fog), this is one of the few pieces of mail to retain its stamp, ex Gibson

U.S. 5c Air Post tied by Boston, Oct. 10, 1931 duplex on cover with American Legion corner card, when the American Legion flight was cancelled, it was sent to Germany for the DO-X flight, with German 1m-3m Air Post stamps tied and two DO-X flight cachets applied, when it came back it was given to Russell Boardman, who carried it on his flight to Istanbul, receiving a two-line cachet, from the DO-X flight Rio de Janeiro (June 22) and Boston (July 8) backstamps, Very Fine and particularly scarce having been flown on the DO-X
