India Flight Cover Collection formed by Leon V. Pont. Over 180 covers neatly housed in glassines affixed to page with informative hand-written descriptions of the flight including vital information such as number flown, covers the period from the late 1920s into the early 1930s, we notice numerous different flights and cachets with a heavy focus on the 1st and 2nd Experimental Flights, many with less than ten covers flown such as 1931 1st Experimental from Aallahabad-Akyab (six flown), 1931 2nd Experimental from Karachi-Akyab (three flown), Jodhpur-Victoria Point (two flown), Delhi-Akyab (six flown), among many others, plus quite a few 1930 Emergency Air Mail with violet cachet, 1930 First Flight by a Mohomedan Pilot, 1932 Madras to Karachi with Tata Sons, Ltd. cachet covers, and more, quality is generally well above the norm and with limited duplication noticed, mostly Very Fine, we would highly encourage careful inspection to fully appreciate the depth and scope of this fascinating period of Indian Air Post history, many of these covers would easily retail a couple to several hundred each, Mr. Pont was a close friend to Stephen Smith and often worked in tangent with Smith in organizing various first flights, from the Magnolia collection
