VERY FINE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 4-PENCE SCARLET VERMILION. A MAJOR NEWFOUNDLAND RARITY.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SPECTACULAR USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 ONE-SHILLING SCARLET VERMILION. IN A CONDITION THAT WOULD BE HARD TO IMPROVE UPON.
Nearly all copies of the One-shilling value have small (or no) margins and/or faults to some degree. This stamp is the very rare exception. It is certainly among the very finest quality examples available.

VERY FINE. AN INCREDIBLY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1860 ONE-SHILLING ON VERTICALLY LAID PAPER. ONLY A TINY NUMBER EXIST.
For years the Scott Catalogue listed the One-Shilling on laid paper as No. 10. In fact, both accompanying certificates refer to it as Scott No. 10. At some point many specialists believed this was of proof status, and it was no longer listed as No. 10, but was instead footnoted after No. 15. Up until recently it was also listed as No. 10 in the Unitrade Catalogue It is also footnoted in Stanley Gibbons.
We know of no census of this stamp, but the total number in existence is minute. Pratt believed only one block of six was made for proof purposes (the stamp offered here is from that block). Robson Lowe recorded one on horizontally laid paper.
Ex Lathrop, Pratt, Gilbert, and "Malibu". Scott $27,500.00. SG £21,000. Unitrade C$32,500.00 (2017)

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN INCREDIBLY CHOICE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1860 ONE-SHILLING ORANGE, SCOTT NO. 15.
The One-shilling value of the 1860 Issue is notorious for having small or no margins. The Lanza copy, with its huge margins, bright color and unusually light cancel, has all of the attributes one would desire, but probably thought could not exist on a single stamp. The rarity of this stamp in this quality cannot be overstated.
Ex Collier. With 1995 B.P.A. and 2009 Greene Foundation certificates. Scott $12,000.00. SG £12,000. Unitrade C$18,000.00

VERY FINE AND CHOICE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-PENNY REDDISH BROWN ERROR OF COLOR. AN OFTEN MISIDENTIFIED NEWFOUNDLAND RARITY.
The 1861 1p Reddish Brown was prepared for use but never issued. It was printed in this Reddish Brown shade in error as it was meant for the 5p stamp instead. According to Pratt, only four sheets (480 stamps) were printed with only a small number known to have survived.
Our census, available at our website at https://siegelauctions.com/census/newfoundland/scott/16 , records 29 copies.
Census no. 16-OG-08. Ex Dale-Lichtenstein. With 2005 and 2010 Greene Foundation certificates. Scott $22,500.00. SG £12,500. Unitrade C$16,000.00
