Field Marshal Edmund Henry Hynman Allenby (1st Viscount Allenby). Handwritten letter on "The Residency, Cairo" stationery and datelined Jan. 22, 1925, letter signed "Allenby F.M." at bottom of letter to well-wisher, Very Fine, Allenby (1861-1936) was a senior British Army officer who fought in the Second Boer War and WWI, at the time of this letter, he was High Commissioner of Egypt, a post he held until shortly after this letter was written in May 1925, from the Magnolia collection
