VERY FINE ORIGINAL-GUM PAIR OF THE RARE 5-CENT VERTICAL COIL, SCOTT 317.
According to Johl, these first government coils were an experiment, and collectors and dealers were generally unaware of their existence. Regular sheets of 400 were printed and then perforated in only one direction. They were then cut into strips of 20. The strips were then pasted together to form rolls. As such, they are almost always strongly centered to one side.
With 1954 and 2003 P.F. certificates.

FINE PAIR OF THE RARE ONE-CENT 1908 HORIZONTAL COIL, SCOTT 318.

FINE APPEARING PAIR OF THE 2-CENT 1908 HORIZONTAL COIL, SCOTT 322.
Issued on July 31, 1908, and intended only to be used by private vending machine companies, Scott 322 is only known with the Die II widened line at lower left.
With 1971 P.F. certificate.

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. AN EXTREMELY RARE COVER BEARING THE ONE-CENT ATTLEBORO PRIVATE VENDING MACHINE COIL. THIS IS EASILY ONE OF THE FINEST IN EXISTENCE.
In 1909 the Attleboro Stamp Company employed a stamp-affixing machine to apply postage to bulk mailings of its price lists and editions of the Attleboro Philatelist. Although the company served stamp collectors, the Attleboro coil appears to have been a purely utilitarian product, limited in its scope to the basic 1c and 2c stamps necessary for mailing and not intended to create new varieties for collectors. Examples of these coils are scarce to rare, especially on cover or wrapper.
With 2003 P.F. certificate.

EXTREMELY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1908 ISSUE WITH SCHERMACK TYPE II PERFORATIONS.

A review of The Philatelic Foundation records and auction catalogue listings located approximately six pairs and two guide line pairs. Singles are also rare.
Purple backstamp. With 2014 P.F. certificate. Unpriced in Scott as a single. Scott value as a pair $11,500.00.
