Transfer Type 3, mostly large margins to ample, tied by "Renta de Correos, Salto" circular datestamp on folded letter datelined Concordia, Argentina, January 15, 1862, and addressed to Omegna, Italy, carried by the French Consular office from Montevideo with Feb. 14, 1862 transit and French Packet datestamps, with Arona transit and Omegna arrival backstamps, "10" decimes due handstamp, stamp with slight soiling and cover with some faults (mainly splits along folds)FINE. AN EXCEPTIONAL AND SIGNIFICANT PIECE OF URUGUAY POSTAL HISTORY WITH ONLY FOUR "SUN" ISSUE COVERS RECORDED TO DESTINATIONS OUTSIDE URUGUAY, ARGENTINA OR BRAZIL.
Since this cover was datelined in Concordia, Argentina, it likely was carried privately to Salto aboard a riverboat. The Uruguay 120c was affixed for internal mail to Montevideo, where it was handed to the French Consular office for onwards transmission on the Saintonge to Europe for final delivery with "10" decimes due.
