Especially well-centered for this notoriously difficult stamp, light portion of a town cancel, Extremely Fine, a very challenging stamp to find in this select quality, with 2010 Greene Foundation certificate, Scott $1,500.00, SG £1,200, Unitrade C$2,500.00
CANADA, 1858, 3p Red, Perf 12 (12; SG 26). Bright color, well-centered for this very difficult stamp, seven-ring cancel, Very Fine, with 2013 Greene Foundation certificate, Scott $1,400.00, SG £600, C$1,800.00
CANADA, 1859, 6p Brown Violet (13; SG 27). Full original gum that the most recent certificate unfairly calls "slightly disturbed", well-centered, wide margins which are most uncharacteristic of this tightly-spaced issue, beautiful rich color and a deeply etched impressionVERY FINE. A review of Power Search shows ten different copies of No. 13 with part or full original gum (including a pair offered in our 1981 Rarities sale). Every one of them, with the exception of the stamp offered here, has the perforations cutting the design on at least one side. This stamp easily qualifies as one of the very finest (and maybe the finest) original-gum examples of Scott No. 13.
Unused copies of the 1858-59 Perforated Pence issue are especially challenging to find with original gum. This is demonstrated by the fact the Unitrade adds a 150% premium for the issue, whereas all of the earlier issues only receive 100% premium.
