VERY FINE AND RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 10-PFENNIG WITHOUT WATERMARK. LESS THAN TEN ARE BELIEVED TO EXIST, ALL FROM THE SAME SETTING.
While closely resembling the Third Setting, the subtle differences are actually from the rare Setting 3d. This stamp is not known from "true" Third Setting as this was not part of the stamps found in Sansane Mangu, so the Stanley Gibbons catalogue is slightly misleading in that respect. Gibbs states this as "VR" which indicates not more than ten exist.
Illustrated in Gibbs p. 195. With 1986 Holcombe certificate. Unlisted in Scott. SG £7,500

VERY FINE AND CHOICE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE RARE TONGA 1897 7-1/2 PENCE GEORGE II INVERTED CENTER. ONLY ONE PANE OF SIXTY WAS PRINTED.
With 2007 B.P.A. certificate. Scott $6,500.00. SG £9,000

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A VERY RARE MULTIPLE MADE EVEN MORE INTERESTING BY HAVING THE LEFT STAMP WITH NARROW WIDTH.
The March printing was made with nine stamps per row, though the width of each stamp was made by Reverend Millar as he went along, resulting in a variance of width from 20mm to 26mm. In April, Reverend Millar changed the format of producing these stamps, so that eleven stamps were placed in each row, with stamps measuring 16 to 18mm. The 30c value is considerably more rare in the narrow setting (Scott and SG No. 22). The left stamp on this strip measures exactly 18mm, which would be in the range of the narrow setting, though is was produced in the March printing, since the other two stamps measure at least 20mm. If the left stamp were separated from the strip, it could easily be classified as the narrow (April) printing, which catalogs $10,000.00 per stamp.
Signed Bloch. Ex "World Traveler". Conservatively cataloged as three singles of No. 3. Scott $7,500.00. SG £6,000
