12c Black, Plate 1 (36). Important study of 12c Plate 1, comprising 36 stamps including seven pairs and a partly rejoined block of 10 with identical pen "X" cancels, mounted on two exhibit pages (and one extra plating diagram), features complete reconstruction of left pane imprint and part right pane imprint (a vertical pair) -- Allen records 12 imprint pieces of Scott 36 in any form or quality -- part reconstruction of centerline with one group imperforate along interpane margin and the other group perforated, double transfer (67R1) and triple transfer (5R1), unusual recut varieties including the only position with both inner and outer left framelines recut (48R1), although selected to show plate varieties the condition appears to be Fine-Very Fine and faults are minor or hidden, this 12c Plate 1 study formed by Jim Allen would be difficult if not impossible to replicate
