Elihu Burritt. Letter from London Crystal Palace, 3 Winchester Buildings, datelined April 22, 1851, and signed by Elihu Burritt, requesting support for Ocean Penny Post, wonderful illustrated "Ocean Penny Postage" ship design by Bradshaw and Blacklock, Very Fine and historical, Elihu Burritt, the "Learned Blacksmith", was a leader and organizer of the 1848 International Brotherhood and Peace Conference, which helped spawn the Ocean Penny Post movement in 1849, cheap ocean postage, following the example of Great Britain, was sought to maximize communications, understanding, commerce and brotherhood between the U.S. and Europe through transatlantic mails

Longacre from a painting by Stuart" imprint and with facsimile Washington signature, also a $5.00 New Orleans Canal Bank obsolete note with a similar engraving, finally two other obsolete banknotes from Susquehanna Bridge & Canal Company, one of which bears a Franklin portrait similar to the 5c 1847, couple minor creases, Very Fine and interesting group, the Washington portrait on the 12c 1851 was reportedly based on the Longacre engraving, which in turn is based on Gilbert Stuart's "Athenaeum" portrait
