EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A STUNNING EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE IN THE DARK BROWN SHADE WITH A BLUE NUMERAL "2" CANCEL WHICH IS PERFECTLY PLACED.
According to an article by Dr. Vernon R. Morris, Jr. in Chronicle 200, the "2" handstamp was used in Philadelphia to indicate payment in cash of "to the mails" carrier service for a destination outside the old city limits (pre-1854 consolidation).
Ex "Natalee Grace". With 1998 P.F. certificate.

EXTREMELY FINE. A VERY CHOICE 5-CENT 1847 ORANGE BROWN WITH A WELL-STRUCK BLUE NUMERAL "5" IN OVAL CANCEL.
Ex Barwis. With 2001 and 2008 P.F. certificates.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A BEAUTIFUL FOUR-MARGIN VERTICAL PAIR OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE WITH RED NUMERAL "5" CANCELS.
Vertical pairs of the 5c 1847 Issue are less common than horizontal pairs. Combining that with large margins all around and red numeral cancels makes this a rare and very desirable pair.
With 2006 P.F. certificate.
