EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB 5-CENT 1847 WITH EARLY IMPRESSION, CANCELLED BY THE PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY, DATESTAMP IN GREEN.
Ex Rose and Dr. Hinrichs. With 1999 P.F. certificate as a pair on cover to Savannah Ga. (Habersham correspondence, formerly USPCS census no. 5132, the cover accompanies but not the second stamp). With 2004 and 2010 P.F. certificates as this single.





VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF AN 1847 ISSUE STAMP WITH A SAN FRANCISCO TOWN DATESTAMP. SUPPLIES OF THE 1847 ISSUE WERE NOT SENT TO POST OFFICES ON THE WEST COAST.
Since the 1847 Issue was never supplied to post offices on the West Coast, only stamps that were carried to San Francisco by a private individual have California origin datestamps.
