VERY FINE EXAMPLE OF THE TYPE R1 CANAL ZONE REGISTRATION ENTIRE IN THE RARE SIZE 22.

This is by far the rarest type of the Registration envelopes. Of the 10,000 R1 envelopes issued, only 1,000 were in this larger size 22. UPSS value $3,000.00. Scott value combined with size 11 (the much more common size with 9,000 issued)

Bartels stating "In 1899 I bought from Roses & Co. 16 copies addressed like this, all that were saved except one or two used copies", today there are approximately nine known unused addressed entires out of the 16 described by Bartels, no fully mint entires are known, Sloane backstamp, UPSS value as both unused and used is $1,500.00
