Sale 1270, Lot 2559, Swaziland - King George VI thru Queen Elizabeth IISWAZILAND, 1938, 2sh6p Dark Violet, Imperforate Plate Proof (35P; SG 36P). Block of six with plate no. and part imprint in bottom margin with clear vertical blue security lines, accompanied by adjoining bottom margin single with part imprint, the single in a slightly lighter shade and without blue security line, Very Fine and remarkable pair, the single is in a barely lighter shade indicating a successful removal of the security lines, a fantastic pair of proof items highlighting the struggle and experimentation of the postal authorities in creating stamps to prevent their reuse, ex van der Molen

Sale 1270, Lot 2560, Swaziland - King George VI thru Queen Elizabeth IISWAZILAND, 1938, -1/2p-10sh King George VI, Perforated "Specimen" (27S-37S; SG 28s-38s). Strips of three for each of the eleven values, -1/2p-1-1/2p with bottom left corner sheet selvage, 2p-6p with bottom selvage showing part imprint and plate no., and 1sh-10sh with top right corner sheet selvage, traces of original gum, Very Fine and scarce in multiples, of interesting note, despite a coronation date of May 12, 1937, these stamps were not issued until Apr. 1, 1938, the delay partly caused by debate on whether Swaziland was considered a Protectorate, it was deemed not and therefore, the wording was removed from the issued stamp, ex Dr. Latto and van der Molen
