Sale 1270, Lot 2768, Mongolia thru ThailandMONGOLIA, 1926, $25.00 Gray and Pink, Revenue Stamp. Faint trace of a pen-stroke cancel, shallow thin spots

FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE 1926 25-DOLLAR REVENUE STAMP. AN IMPORTANT RARITY FOR THE MONGOLIA SPECIALIST OR WORLDWIDE REVENUE COLLECTOR.

The $25.00 Revenue stamp was first reported in 1959. It is also mentioned in the Hellrigl book, but not illustrated, as he never saw an actual example. It is believed only 300 were produced and quickly withdrawn, possibly due to the horizontal displacement of the pink printing. Only a tiny fraction have survived. We were able to locate only two others. One source states "less than ten known", while another records just seven copies.
