Italian States - Naples Postal Forgery Used Collection. About 100 used neatly mounted on exhibit pages, all but three are of the 1859-61 First Issue, various examples of each of the three values 2g, 10g, and 20g in the various Types listed in Sassone, we notice values of each ranging from €450 to €32,500, including Sassone Nos. F3 (two, one with severe faults), F5a, F9c, and F10, the 1861-62 Issue with Sassone Nos. F6 (2) and F8, small faults noticed and to be expected though much is Fine-Very Fine appearing, a remarkable assemblage of these fascinating postally used and contemporaneous counterfeits, Sassone value should be around €150,000

Tied by clear "234" dotted square handstamp with corresponding "Alessandria d'Egitto, Poste Italiane, 11 MAR 71" circular datestamp while in transit on folded cover from Beirut and addressed to Genoa, Italy, Leuzinger & Binder of Beirut and Gsell & Bircher of Alexandria forwarders markings at bottom left, Brindisi transit and Genoa arrival backstamps, Very Fine and remarkable cover, due to losses suffered during the Franco-Prussian War, French Paquebots were unavailable so this was carried privately by British Steamer to Alexandria and forwarded to the Italian Post Office for onward transmission to Genoa, one of only two examples using this service from Beirut and the only one with the forwarding agents handstamp
