Sale 1269, Lot 1026, British Columbia & Vancouver IslandBRITISH COLUMBIA & VANCOUVER ISLAND, 1860, 2-1/2p Dull Rose, Imperforate (1; SG formerly 1). Contemporaneous gum, large to very large margins all around

EXTREMELY FINE. A MOST IMPRESSIVE EXAMPLE OF THIS GREAT RARITY AND THE FIRST JOINT ISSUE BETWEEN BRITISH COLUMBIA & VANCOUVER ISLAND.

This stamp was printed but never placed into use. While listed in Scott and Unitrade, Stanley Gibbons considers this an imperforate plate proof. Some current research suggests all of these were produced without gum and privately gummed at a later time despite the two issued certificates stating original gum.

Ex "World Traveler". With 1983 Friedl and 1994 P.F. certificates (both stating original gum). Scott $27,500.00. SG £10,000. Unitrade C$60,000.00

Sale 1269, Lot 1027, British Columbia & Vancouver IslandBRITISH COLUMBIA & VANCOUVER ISLAND, 1865, 5c Rose (3; SG 11). Unused (regummed), large margins all around, fresh color and crisp impression, central vertical crease, slight margin repair (not mentioned on certificate)

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT ROSE IMPERFORATE.

Arguably one of the most challenging Canadian province stamps to obtain in unused condition. Unused examples are seldom encountered, with most known having faults to some degree (some quite extensive and/or repaired). We have offered only one other, in our 1981 Rarities Sale.

With 2016 Greene certificate. Scott $40,000.00. SG £32,000. Unitrade C$50,000.00
