VERY FINE. THIS IS THE UNIQUE CENTER GROSS-GUTTER BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 1989 FIVE-DOLLAR PLUMED WHISTLING IMPERFORATE PROOF. ONE SHEET OF SIX PANES WERE PRINTED WITH THE BOTTOM TWO PANES REMOVED, LEAVING THIS BLOCK AS THE ONLY EXAMPLE POSSIBLE.

Accompanied by a photo of the original part sheet with the bottom two panes removed and note from Bob Dumaine attesting to its uniqueness.

Folded letter datelined in Cipro (Cyprus) on Feb. 11, 1855 and addressed to Genoa, Italy, cover prepaid and carried by Austrian Lloyd with bold fancy red "D.A.a.L." handstamp and routed via Beirut with "Beyrut, 12 Feb." two-line datestamp and "Maro Roqverde, Beyrout" boxed forwarding handstamp, arrival backstamp, Very Fine and choice, it is believed that the "D.A.a.L." was an old accounting cachet which was placed into use for a short period of time to indicate prepayment of covers for the Austrian Lloyd Steamship, it likely spell out "Dalla Agenzia a Larnaca"
