VERY FINE. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE RAREST TWENTIETH CENTURY STAMPS IN THE WORLD.
The first Cameroun stamps under French occupation were issued in 1915. They consisted of a series of stamps from Gabon that were overprinted "Corps Expeditionnaire/Franco Anglais/CAMEROUN". The 10c stamp has the inscription "Congo Francais" at the bottom. However, one sheet of 25 stamps with the inscription "Afrique Equatoriale" was inadvertently put in the run for overprinting, creating this great rarity.
The stamps were issued with gum, but the old colonial gum used quickly became heavily tropicalized, resulting in the paper being yellowed and toned. For this reason, many have had their gum removed. The gum on the Venn copy, while just slightly disturbed from tropicalization, is fresh, untoned and does not affect the paper. This is as close to full original gum as one could get. Therefore, the Venn example must be considered among the finest (if not the finest) of the few still in existence.
Signed numerous times, including A. Brun, A. Diena, Roumet and Calves. With 1997 Behr ("with gum") and 2000 P.F. ("previously hinged") certificates. Scott $21,500.00. Yvert €26,500

EXTREMELY FINE. THE KEY STAMPS OF CILICIA AND ONE OF THE RAREST AIR POST SETS OF THE WORLD.
This set was issued in very limited quantities specifically for two airmail flights. It is thought one European dealer bought up the small remaining stock of unused sets. Around the same time, "reprints" were made using a new handstamp. The total number of genuine unused sets purchased by the stamp dealer is not known, though many sources we have seen put the number at ten or "less than ten". In any case, very few genuine sets are available today.
Each signed Champion three times and A. Brun twice. Each with 1999 P.F. certificate. Scott $18,750.00. Yvert €24,500
