Position 70L1, full margins to huge including right interpane margin with centerline, intense shade, grid cancel, Very Fine and scarce left-pane stamp showing the centerline, the line was not inscribed perfectly between the two panes, but rather closer to the right pane, as such centerline copies from the left pane are much scarcer because they require a larger sheet margin, with 2008 P.F. certificate

Positions 99-100L1, horizontal pair, huge margins to clear including right interpane margin with centerline, bright shade, grid cancels, Very Fine, ex Emerson and Cohen, the line was not inscribed perfectly between the two panes, but rather closer to the right pane, as such centerline copies from the left pane are much scarcer because they require a larger sheet margin, Scott value $575.00 as ordinary pair

Balance of six singles and a pair, each showing interpane margin with centerline, two of the singles (30L1 and 80L1) and the pair (89-90L1) are from the left pane and therefore much scarcer with the centerline (it was inscribed closer to the right pane, so is more difficult to capture by a left pane stamp), right pane stamps include Positions 11R1, 21R1, 31R1 and 51R1, few small faults and margins generally to touched or slightly in on a side, overall a Fine and scarce group of interpane margin stamps, one P.F. certificate accompanies (that stamp ex Koppersmith)

Jun. 27" circular datestamp cancels, light vertical creases, Very Fine appearance, a rare and important plating pair -- this and the pair offered in the following lot are the discovery pairs proving that the 12c 1851 plate was laid down with a two-relief transfer roll, rather than a one-relief roll as was previously believed, the A Relief, used only in the top row, shows an incomplete lower left corner -- ex Jack Dick
