Sale 1243, Lot 644, 1860-1865 IssuesBRITISH COLUMBIA & VANCOUVER ISLAND, 1865, 5c Rose (3, SG 11). Large balanced margins all around, exceptionally fresh color, razor-sharp impression on fresh paper, beautifully contrasting blue "35" barred numeral cancel of Victoria

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS IS WIDELY REGARDED AS THE FINEST USED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT ROSE IMPERFORATE OF VANCOUVER ISLAND, SCOTT 5. ONE OF THE KEY RARITIES OF BRITISH COLUMBIA & VANCOUVER ISLAND WHICH IS RARELY ENCOUNTERED IN SUCH CHOICE CONDITION.

Examples in any condition - whether unused or used - are exceptionally rare. To find one with full margins, completely sound, neatly cancelled and with the overall freshness this stamp exudes is exceptional. This would make a key item for any Gem quality B.N.A. collection.
