Sale Number 1241, Lot Number 1461, CSA Group LotsConfederate States Cover Balance, Confederate States Cover BalanceConfederate States Cover Balance. 25 covers from a wide range of issues, three Postmaster's Provisionals including Nos. 6XU2 Atlanta Ga. (P.F. certificate) and 18XU1 Columbia S.C., third is an interesting turned use with Houston Tex. No. 70XU2 on one side and Galveston Tex No. 98XU2 on other side -- but the cover is a single panel so each use would be considered a front only, General Issues include four No. 1, one with Treasury Dept. imprint and one a front with Peterstown Va. manuscript postmark, No. 2, No. 4, four of Nos. 6-7 including Patriotic use with verse and another with illustration of Capitol building in red and "The House that Uncle Sam Built", three of No. 8, six of Nos. 11-12, No. 13, finally one semi-official imprint cover and one corner card stampless cover, at least half or more of these would have warranted individual lots if not for the rough condition, with faults the norm and some defective stamps, still a diverse group with many better uses, see our website PDF for a complete scan

Confederate States Balance. Balance of covers and stamps, the best portion by far is the 21 covers, diverse range of issues and uses including No. 1, two of No. 2 including turned use with 1c U.S. 1857 Issue (24), five of No. 4 including a pair, plus a use on a blue embossed cameo corner card which is turned with another 5c inside, one No. 7 used with No. 11, No. 8 used on a semi-official Commissioner of Taxes corner card cover (stamp badly faded), six Nos. 11-12, also a single U.S. No. 26 on a Mississippi Independent State cover and four stampless covers -- one an adversity use with a woodcut of General John Wharton on inside but unfortunately missing stamps on the mailed side, rough condition with faults to be expected throughout or some of these would have been individual lots, overall Fine appearance, the stamps balance is mostly Nos. 6-7 and 11-12 with a pair and single of No. 8 and one No. 14, mixed condition, see our website PDF for a complete scan
