Rejoined block of four (two vertical pairs), original gum, hinge reinforcement, showing three faint overprints along center perfs straddling all four stamps plated as Setting 3, R. 2/2-4, each showing the small second "z" and center strike with broken capital "Z" and no dot on "i", position 3 with mild horizontal bend, still Very Fine and remarkable multiple, this is the largest multiple recorded with only one other known, this unique with the position R. 2/3 variety, the overprint is generally weak due to the attempted removal by the printer, this was originally thought to be a trial overprinting as no used examples are recorded, though more contemporary theories suggest this may be an accidental turning of the sheet when overprinting, though still possibly a trial overprint, ex Griffith-Jones, with 2018 B.P.A. certificate, catalogued as singles, Scott $1,900.00, SG £1,700

VERY FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE EXCEPTIONALLY RARE 6-ANNA WITH "ZANZIBARR" OVERPRINT ERROR. ONE OF ONLY TWO EXAMPLES RECORDED IN PRIVATE HANDS.

There are three recorded examples, one of which resides in the Royal Collection and is not available to collectors. The other in private hands is dated three days earlier. A peculiar error as this is only recorded on the 6a value and no position has been proven. Theories abound, the most substantive one is that an overprint setting must have been done in error due to the change in pane size of 8x10 rather than the normal 6x10.

Setting 1, complete overprint setting of 120 from top half of the sheet with interpanneau selvage at bottom, original gum with some slight tropicalization, with the rare "Zanzidar" error (24a; SG 22j) on positions R. 4/6 and 8/5 and "Zanizbar" error (24b; SG 22k) on position R. 1/9, few toned spots and minor splitting as to be expected
