Sale 1246, Lot 3004, Great Britain thru Australian StatesGREAT BRITAIN, 1841, 2p Blue (4; SG 14). Horizontal strip of eleven, Plate 4, lettered H-A to H-K, wrapped around a folded cover and tied by light grids, with Liverpool F.R.H. Apr. 19, 1851 datestamp, sent to New York, red "Paid" and "5 Cents" handstamps, ms. "per Steamer Niagara", letter "D" stamp split upon opening as it was wrapped around both sides, vertical file fold causes a split in "H-H", large margins at top, bottom ranges from large to cut into, letter "K" stamp defective from being placed at the edge, Fine appearance, despite the faults, this is a very rare cover, as a strip of eleven is almost unheard of - the horizontal rows were only twelve across

Sale 1246, Lot 3010, Great Britain thru Australian StatesANGUILLA, 1967, -1/2c-$5.00 Overprints (1-16; SG 1-16). Mint N.H., brilliantly fresh throughout, 50c with overprint offset on gum, 60c with minor gum bend

VERY FINE. ONE OF THE RAREST SETS OF ALL THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH FROM THE QUEEN ELIZABETH II ERA.

The Postmaster of Anguilla strictly controlled the sale of this issue due to the short supply of stocks on which to overprint. No trade or overseas orders for mint stamps were accepted. Used examples can be found where people mailed letters or postcards from the island. However very few mint sets were sold over the counter, creating one of the rarest regularly issued post-war sets of the world.

Each value with clear 1970 B.P.A. certificate. Scott $25,880.00. SG £28,000
