Sale Number 1240, Lot Number 723, Confederate States and U.S. Possessions2c Green (3), 2c Green (3)2c Green (3). Original gum, lightly hinged, enormous margins all around including large portions of adjoining stamps at sides, brilliant color, fresh

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES 2-CENT LITHOGRAPH ISSUE IN THE FINEST CONDITION ATTAINABLE.

Collectors of superb classic stamps are advised to carefully consider this stamp. While the typographed and majority of the engraved Confederate issues (Scott 6-7, 8, 11-13) are available in high grades due to the supply of large multiples and sheets, the same is not true for the Lithographed issues (Scott 1-5). Large multiples of the 2c Lithograph are scarce and expensive -- and therefore not conducive to harvesting superb singles.

With 2014 P.S.E. certificate (OGph, XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; unpriced in this grade, SMQ $2,900.00 as 95 and $5,000.00 as 98). P.S.E. does not publish the Population Report numbers for Confederate States but this is the highest grade we have offered in our auctions and we have not offered any other.
