VERY FINE USE OF TWO 1861 3-CENT PINK STAMPS ON AN ILLUSTRATED UNION PATRIOTIC COVER. BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY RESPECT.

Two covers, both with beautiful hand-drawn Patriotic designs depicting an Eagle on the Rock of the Union with address banners in beaks, each is a different and very elaborate design, addressed to Mrs. Doctor J.L. Brown, first with stamp affixed over top edge of cover, tied by "Ft. Seneca O. May 21" manuscript postmark, some slight wear and small stain on stamp, second with stamp tied by blue "Martinsburg W.V. ? Mar. '64" double-circle datestamp, stamp with faults and color faded, otherwise Very Fine pair of covers with spectacular hand-illustrated Patriotic designs, each of the Green Spring Patriotic designs is unique and most have faulty stamps, the first one of these two has one of the most beautiful designs of the small group we have encountered, the last similar cover we offered realized $4,250 hammer in our 2016 Rarities sale (that stamp also had faults)
