Sale Number 1243, Lot Number 524, 1859-1864 Cents IssuesCANADA, 1859, 10c Black Brown (16; SG 33), CANADA, 1859, 10c Black Brown (16; SG 33)CANADA, 1859, 10c Black Brown (16; SG 33). Large part original gum (due to presence of a hinge), exceptionally deep rich color distinctive of the first printing, with proof-like impression on bright paper, uncommonly well-centered for this issue with design just touching at top

EXTREMELY FINE. EASILY THE FINEST EXISTING ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1859 10-CENT PRINCE ALBERT IN THE BLACK BROWN SHADE. ONE OF THE RAREST ORIGINAL-GUM STAMPS OF CANADA WITH LESS THAN HALF A DOZEN THOUGHT TO STILL EXIST.

The stamp offered here combines the trifecta of perfection that a fastidious stamp collector seeks - original gum, well-centered and sound condition. A careful review of major named Canada sales will quickly show just how rare an original-gum example in this condition truly is. Most eventually never acquire an example, while others settle for a used copy (scarce in its own right) or trial color.

Ex Dr. Dauer. Signed Bloch. With 1983 (as "unused, OG") and 2014 P.F. certificates. Scott $25,000.00. SG £18,000. Unitrade C$50,000.00

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. ARGUABLY THE FINEST ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 17-CENT BLUE PERFORATED CARTIER IN UNRIVALED CONDITION.

The 1859 Perforated Issue is one of the most challenging issues to find such well-centered due to the tight spacing of stamps. Examples of any value which combine the overall centering and freshness this stamp possesses are rarely encountered.
