A REMARKABLE PRISTINE MINT NEVER-HINGED BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 1878 5-CANDEREEN LARGE DRAGON.
Scott Catalogue value of $5,800.00 as four hinged singles does not adequately represent the value of a never-hinged block in such superb quality

CHINA, 1895 Cover from Sweden to Sven Hedin on his First Expedition into Central Asia. Sweden 1886-91, 1kr Bister & Dark Blue (49) tied by indistinct Stockholm circular datestamp on registered cover to Sven Hedin, care of Petrovsky, the Russian Consul at Kashgar, written by his father, Apr. 13, 1895 backstamp, red manuscript "94" relating to his correspondence received, minor edgewear, Very Fine, Hedin's first expedition occurred from 1893-1897 and took him thru the Pamir Mountains into Northern Tibet, he ultimately proceeded thru Central Asia and China ending up in Beijing in 1897 before returning to Sweden

Block of four with interpanneau margin at right, a full 3mm wider than the left stamps, large part dried original gum, brilliant color, top left stamp also shows a misplaced corner perforationFINE-VERY FINE. A VERY SCARCE BLOCK OF THE 1897 TWO-DOLLAR IMPERIAL CHINESE POST - MADE EVEN MORE RARE BY THE PRESENCE OF AN INTERPANNEAU MARGIN AT RIGHT.
With 2019 Frumkin certificate in which he notes this is the only such interpanneau example he has seen on the $2.00 stamp. Scott $12,000.00 as four normal singles

CHINA, 1922 4c Postal Reply Card to/from Russia. Uprated with 2c Junk Issue, uncancelled, and addressed to Vasilsursk, Russia, then registered returned to Harbin, Manchuria, with Russia 1922, 7500r on 250r (201), horizontal strip of four with sheet margin at top, tied by Vasilsursk circular datestamps, small piece of registry receipt still affixed, Russia 7500r strip with small tear on right stamp and mild horizontal crease where stamps lifted to view card underneathFINE AND RARE RETURNED CHINA POSTAL REPLY CARD TO RUSSIA USING BOTH CHINESE AND RUSSIAN STAMPS.
At this time, Harbin, Manchuria had a sizeable Russian population. After the Russian Revolution in 1917, over 100,000 Russian White Guards and refugees retreated to Harbin. Communication and relations between Russia and China at this period was quite tense, hence an explanation why the Chinese postage was left uncancelled, and possibly not accepted.

Without gum as issued, wide margins, fresh and Very Fine, a recently discovered rarity, while some of the other surcharges are known perf 10-1/2 instead of the usual perf 13 (and carry substantial premiums), the Kweichow surcharge is not listed in any catalogue, to our knowledge this is the only recorded example

Great Britain 2-1/2p King George VI tied by Mar. 31, 1949 Birmingham duplex on cover to Siking, Shensi Province, undeliverable due to ongoing fighting between the Nationalist and Communist forces, Shanghai violet instructional boxed cachet indicating Blocked Mail Route/Return to Sender, with bilingual “Unclaimed” boxed handstamp, Shanghai and Birmingham (Aug. 2) backstamps, Very Fine, at the time of posting, both Siking and Shanghai were in Nationalist’s hands, but while the cover was in China, Siking (May 20) and Shanghai (May 27) fell to the Communists, the cover likely languished in the Shanghai post office for months before being returned
