VERY FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE RARE $1.90 IMPERFORATE FOREIGN EXCHANGE FIRST ISSUE REVENUE, WITH AN OUTSTANDING HANDSTAMPED CANCEL.
It is believed that of the 9,000 examples originally issued imperforate, 312 were returned for perforating. It is not known how many were used. A review using Power Search found a dozen or so unduplicated copies. No multiples are known. This is an early use -- they were first delivered to the Department on April 17, 1863.
With 1974 Friedl and 2019 P.F. certificates

First Issue Handstamped Cancellation Collection. A visually attractive collection of 109 different First Issue revenues, each cancelled by a desirable handstamp rather than the typical manuscript cancellation, several with perfectly struck socked-on-the-nose markings, some colored handstamps such as blue and red, most are more modestly catalogued stamps in the $1.00 to $100.00 range, with a couple higher, but the catalogue values do not take into account the premiums associated with handstamp cancels, some faults (typically of a minor nature), overall Fine, the wonderful attributes of this lot can be seen on the PDF scan found on our website, Scott Catalogue value (as the typical manuscript cancel) is in excess of $3,500.00
