VERY FINE-EXTREMELY FINE. A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO START COLLECTING THESE FASCINATING ISSUES BY ACQUIRING THE CORE OF A COMPREHENSIVE COLLECTION OF POSTAL STATIONERY.
This collection reminds us of the phenomenal collection balance we offered as the first lot in the "Scarsdale" sale. All paper colors are represented, and all are in black mounts on album pages. A collection such as this would take many years to assemble.

VERY FINE AND CHOICE COMPREHENSIVE COLLECTION OF CUT SQUARES. PERFECT TO START COLLECTING THIS AREA OR TO FILL IN MISSING NUMBERS.
Total Scott Retail in excess of $43,000.00

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE UNUSED CUT SQUARE OF THE 3-CENT RED ON BUFF DIE 4 NESBITT ISSUE. NO UNUSED ENTIRES ARE KNOWN.
A Power Search review reveals how rare the Die 4 Nesbitt Issue is in unused condition. We have sold only one other example since keeping computerized records, in our 2013 sale of the "Scarsdale" collection. The UPSS Catalogue reports no mint entires. It is believed that only one mint full corner is known.
With clear 2002 P.F. certificate

FRESH AND VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT BLUE STAR DIE WRAPPER ON ORANGE PAPER.
The UPSS Catalog reports fewer than ten of this rare Star Die wrapper exist. The "Scarsdale" Collection contained only a full corner and that is the only example in any format we have offered since a full-size example in our 2007 Saddleback Collection.
With 1997 P.F. certificate. UPSS value $8,500.00

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS ONE OF ONLY FOUR EXAMPLES OF THE 1881 2-CENT VERMILION ON AMBER IN ANY FORMAT -- AND ONE OF ONLY TWO USED CUT SQUARES. A GREAT POSTAL STATIONERY RARITY.
The 1881 2c Vermilion on Amber (UPSS Die 55) is one of the rarest items of Postal Stationery in any format or condition. There is only one unused entire, ex Barkhausen and "Saddleback" and last offered in our 2013 sale of the "Scarsdale" Collection (Sale 1039, lot 141). There is also one unused cut square (Siegel 1980 Rarities sale) and two used cut squares, including the example offered here.
With 2000 P.F. certificate

EXTREMELY FINE. A PRISTINE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT BROWN ON FAWN ENTIRE WITH TWO LINKS BELOW RIGHT "2". FEWER THAN FIVE ARE KNOWN.
The UPSS Catalog notes only four mint entires extant (two used cut squares are also known).
Ex Barkhausen, "Saddleback" and "Laila". With 1982 and 2007 P.F. certificates. UPSS value $12,000.00

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS ONE OF ONLY TWO UNUSED EXAMPLES OF THE DIE 87 2-CENT GREEN ON BLUE ISSUE -- BOTH CUT SQUARES. NO UNUSED ENTIRES ARE KNOWN. A GREAT RARITY OF POSTAL STATIONERY COLLECTING.
The 2012 UPSS catalogue reports no unused entires and two used entires. Porter Venn records two unused cut squares -- the example offered here and the example that is ex Floyd and "Saddleback" and was last offered in our 2013 sale of the "Scarsdale" Collection.
