VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE BENNETT PIETERS & COMPANY 4-CENT ON SILK PAPER.
The Aldrich census records a total of ten examples of this rarity, of which at least 7 are faulty.
Ex Joyce and "Scarsdale". With 2007 P.F. certificate
VERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT RING'S VEGETABLE AMBROSIA ON SILK PAPER.
Only twenty are recorded in the Aldrich census. With 2008 P.F. certificate
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. QUITE LIKELY THE FINEST KNOWN EXAMPLE OF THIS SCARCE STAMP.
We have sold four since keeping computerized records. None have margins even close to the size of those on the stamp offered here. The Aldrich census records 26.
Ex Rosenberg. With 1995 P.F. certificate
EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. BY FAR THE BEST CENTERED EXAMPLE OF THE RARE ONE-CENT LAKE SEABURY & JOHNSON ISSUE WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED.
Every copy we have sold has the perfs at least touching the design and often well into the design. We are not aware of any equal to this stamp's striking appearance. Seventeen are recorded in the Aldrich census.
With 2020 P.F. certificate
VERY FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 8-CENT WILLIAM SWAIM ISSUE ON SILK PAPER.
The Aldrich book notes only nine examples of this issue on silk paper, including a rejoined pair from the Joyce sale. Virtually all have faults. The example offered here, with its choice appearance, compares favorably to the other known copies.
With 1999 P.F. certificate
EXTREMELY FINE. A STUNNING EXAMPLE OF THE SCARCE WILLIAM SWAIM 8-CENT ORANGE WATERMARKED IMPERFORATE ISSUE.
The only copy we can locate that can be considered comparable to this stamp is the example we offered in Sale 1212 -- a sound example with large margins -- though it could be argued this "World Traveler" copy is more desirable due to the imprint.
Ex "Donaldson". With 2000 P.F. certificate
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE AND HANDSOME EXAMPLE OF THE DR. G. W. SWETT 4-CENT PERF AND DIE CUT ISSUE ON WATERMARKED PAPER.
The Aldrich book records only nine copies, at least six of which are faulty. With 2020 P.F. certificate
EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF THE RARE GEORGE TALCOTT 4-CENT ON PINK PAPER. ONLY SIX ARE RECORDED.
At least four of the six copies recorded in the Aldrich book are faulty. This is the only example we have offered since keeping computerized records, and has far better centering than the two others we were able to locate in our digital records. This is an important Private Die Proprietary Stamp from the "World Traveler" Collection.
Ex Tolman, "Scarsdale" and Inman. Small "D. & Co." backstamp. With 2012 P.F. certificate as sound (VF 80)
EXTREMELY FINE. BY FAR THE FINEST EXAMPLE OF THE WILDER 4-CENT ON WATERMARKED PAPER WE HAVE EVER OFFERED.
We have sold only three different examples of this rare stamp since keeping computerized records. All three have thin spots. The Aldrich census records just thirteen. This "World Traveler" copy ranks as one of the very finest (if not the finest) of the tiny number available.
