EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A HANDSOME EXAMPLE OF THE L. W. BUCK & COMPANY'S ONE-CENT STAMP ON OLD PAPER. THE FINEST OF THE FIVE WE HAVE OFFERED SINCE KEEPING COMPUTERIZED RECORDS.

The Buck plant was destroyed by fire circa 1870 and was never rebuilt, leaving a brief period when the stamps would have been used. The Aldrich book records only sixteen examples. We have offered four others, all with faults to varying degrees. This is by far the finest centered.

THE ONLY SOUND EXAMPLE OF THIS FRAIL STAMP WE HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED.

Of the seven we have previously offered, all have faults or repairs to some degree. Only one (ex Tolman, "Scarsdale" and Inman) has full margins all around. The Aldrich census contains 21 examples, 15 of which are noted with faults. It is very probable that most (if not all) of the remaining six actually do have some sort of fault.
