Sale Number 1211, Lot Number 515, 1867-1868 Grilled Issue, Outstanding strip of five of the 1867 3¢ C Grill used with a 2¢ Black Jack on cover to Germany

3¢ Rose, C. York Paid 12 Hamb. Pkt Nov. 23" (1867) 12¢ credit datestamp, receiving backstamp, skillfully cleaned and strengthened along edges, stamps lifted and replaced (the strip is completely sound), Very Fine and outstanding C Grill multiple used at a very early date--probably the earliest transatlantic use of this grill and in our opinion the most outstanding C Grill cover extant, this is also the finer and earlier of two recorded covers from the same correspondence with strips of five of the 3¢ C Grill, ex Zoellner, with 1998 P.F. certificate
