1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Position 91L1E, triple transfer, one inverted, disturbed original gum, large margins with huge bottom left corner sheet margins, diagonal crease that has little impact on the beautiful appearance of this stampEXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. AN OUTSTANDING AND RARE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 ONE-CENT FROM POSITION 91L ON PLATE ONE EARLY, WITH TRIPLE TRANSFER, ONE INVERTED.
The inverted transfers on Positions 71L, 81L and 91L1E (offered here) were made after the top row of the right pane of Plate 1 Early was entered from the Type I single-relief transfer roll. According to Richard Celler's theory (see Siegel Encyclopedia at http://siegelauctions.com/enc/pdf/1c1851.pdf), the three inverted transfers were made from a Type I design 3-relief transfer roll as a sort of trial after the top row entries had been made and the plate was turned around 180 degrees. When another plate ("Plate 0") had to be discarded, the siderographer returned to Plate 1 and erased the three inverted transfers before completing the plate with entries surrounding 3R to 10R. Positions 71L and 81L are double transfers. Position 91L was entered a total of three times, so it is a triple transfer, one inverted. When the plate was reworked in 1852, 71L and 81L were re-entered (but not 91L), making them all triple transfers, one inverted.

1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (8A). Plate 4, huge margins all around including large portions of adjoining stamps at sides, deep rich color, circular datestamp cancelEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 IMPERFORATE ONE-CENT TYPE IIIa.
Type IIIa is defined as having a break in outer lines at either top or bottom. The stamp offered here, with a wide break at top and huge margins is an outstanding example of the type.

Position 4L1, recut once at bottom, with huge sheet margin at top, original gum, lightly hinged, other margins also huge with portions of three adjoining stamps, rich colorEXTREMELY FINE GEM. THE PERFECT UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT 1851 ISSUE TYPE IV, WITH HUGE MARGINS, LIGHTLY-HINGED GUM AND RICH COLOR. THIS SUPERB STAMP HAS ACHIEVED THE ULTIMATE GRADE OF GEM 100 JUMBO FROM P.S.E.
Only eight positions on Plate 1 Late have a single recut at bottom.

1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Recut once at top and bottom, large margins to full, rich color nicely complemented by red New York circular datestamp cancel, Very Fine and choice, with 1988 P.F. certificate
3c Dull Red, Ty. I (11). Position 60L8, huge margins all around including right interpane margin and parts of all five adjoining stamps, brilliant color, neat strike of circular datestamp, Extremely Fine Gem, a phenomenal stamp in every respect, with 2016 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100 Jumbo; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 100, SMQ $1,000.00 as 100), this is the highest grade possible on the grading chart and only five other used copies share this perfect grade
3c Dull Red, Ty. I (11). Block of four, large margins to clear including parts of seven adjoining stamps, brilliant color, unobtrusive grid cancels, bottom right stamp small scissors-cut at top right, tiny tear at bottom mostly between stamps, the top stamps are sound, Fine-Very Fine appearance, with 2017 P.S.E. certificate (F 70)
3c 1851-61 Issues (11, 26, 65). including two of No. 26, each with either "Paid" in circle of "Paid 3" in circle, one No. 26 struck in green, Very Fine strikes, an attractive group, two with certificates
5c Red Brown (12). Large to huge margins, rich color, bold strike of New Orleans circular datestamp, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb stamp, ex "Clipper City", small red backstamp not mentioned on certificates, with 1981 P.F. and 2007 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $2,100.00).
5c Red Brown (12). Large margins all around, rich color on bright paper, neat strike of red grid cancel, fresh and Extremely Fine, a beautiful stamp, scarce cancelled solely by a red grid, with 1999 P.F. certificate
