Unlike many other issues, the horizontal coil is actually scarcer than the vertical coil. It was in production for only a short period of time before being replaced by the Type III, Scott 492.
Our census of used joint line multiples of Scott 491, available at our website at https://siegelauctions.com/census/us/scott/491 , records ten joint line pairs, a strip of three, and a strip of five. Most are off-center either top to bottom or side to side or both.

Mint N.H. joint line pair, rich color, detailed impression, magnificent centering with unusually wide margins, Extremely Fine Gem, superb in every respect, ex Hoffman, 2002 P.F. certificate no longer accompanies, with 2008 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98; SMQ $1,600.00), this is one of only two examples at this lofty grade with only one higher (at 98J), when this was originally submitted to P.S.E., it came back accompanied by a note from master grader William A. Litle stating "I believe the first 98NH 493LP - and close to 100NH" (note no longer accompanies)
