Sale Number 1214, Lot Number 1406, St. Helena thru Sierra LeoneSAMOA, 1914, 1sh on 1m Carmine, "1 Shilling" (110a; SG 111), SAMOA, 1914, 1sh on 1m Carmine, "1 Shilling" (110a; SG 111)SAMOA, 1914, 1sh on 1m Carmine, "1 Shilling" (110a; SG 111). Apia 10.9.14 circular datestamp, attractive color

FINE. A VERY RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE SAMOA "1 SHILLING" VARIETY. ONLY 35 WERE PRINTED.

According to Robert M. Gibbs, the entire first printing of 100 of the 1sh on 1m stamps was an error, with the "s" at the end of "Shilling". The Administration found another 35 1-mark stamps, which were surcharged correctly without the final "s".

This is the first used example we have offered since keeping computerized records.

Signed Calves. SG £7,000
