III (26), not accepted as prepayment in Louisville where bold blue "DUE" handstamp struck with manuscript "3", reduced slightly at top clipping corner of stamp, edge stains and repaired tear at upper left, otherwise Fine and very rare example of Confederate mail to Louisville after suspension of the Nashville-Louisville mail route, had this been addressed anywhere north of Louisville it would have received the "Southn. Letter Unpaid" handstamp, letters addressed locally were marked "Due" for unpaid postage, examples of Southern Letter Unpaid mail delivered in Louisville are exceedingly rare
