Great Britain, 1840 1p and 2p Mulready Collection. 20 items, both unused and used, better items noticed incl. three 1p letter sheets dated in May 1840 (May 11, 21 and 27), 1p letter sheet with "8" in Maltese Cross cancel, three used 2p letter sheets or envelopes incl. 1844 style cancel and one very late use from 1862, five unused caricature covers and even Mulready Proof with manuscript inscription "Mr. Mulready kindly gave me this proof, 30 July 1845", though quite toned, slightly mixed condition, mostly Fine or better, total catalogue (not incl. proof) exceeds £16,000

Total of 83 singles and two pairs, nearly all on 102 cards and identified by plate number which incl. examples from all plates with exception of the rare No. 11, even with some better Maltese Cross cancels such as Troon (ex Beresford) and supposed Brown example, an additional nine 1p Red Brown from "Black Plates" accompany, most as a matching pair with a corresponding Penny Black, mixed condition though we notice quite a few four-margin examples, mostly Fine or better

About 180 items, mostly used singles, but also some used pairs and a few unused singles, over 90 1p Imperforate, including some from the "Black Plates", numerous shades, different plates, better cancels such as six with blue Maltese Cross, plate varieties, etc., twelve singles and three pairs of 2p Imperforate, balance is perforated, with different plates, various varieties such as blind letters, cancels, etc., some nice strikes of numeral cancels showing a wide range of towns including one 1p perforated used in Cyprus, condition is better than normally seen with majority Fine-Very Fine, should prove useful to the Line Engraved specialist

To 1950 on Schaubek pages, starts off with the White Scinde Dawk (four large margins, small faults, BPA certificate) and Blue Scinde Dawk (cut to shape, R.P.S. certificate), other better early stamps includes two 4a Blue & Red cut square, a very rare used 1856 2a Yellow Green (S.G. 50) with B.P.A. certificate (small repair), a few covers, later sets and high values, three sets of the 1948 Gandhi, plus two first day covers, and the 3-1/2a value with Official overprint, early Officials include SG O17 and O18 (usual faults, both with certificates), and other Back-of-Book, early stamps in typical mixed quality, much of the later is Fine-Very Fine, overall a desirable collection that contains many scarce stamps not normally seen in collection lots offered at auction

In a Schaubek album, good representation from all States, with the earliest 19th Century issues to the latest issues of the 1940s, plus Officials and other Back-of-Book, many varieties and some duplication (including on better stamps), a few multiples and about a dozen covers, the total catalogue value should be quite high, but many of the lesser cataloguing stamps can be a challenge to find, especially in used condition, with all the varieties, covers and cancels, we would suggest careful viewing to fully appreciate the desirability of this collection
