VERY FINE. ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLES KNOWN OF THE "ABNORMAL" 6-PENCE BUFF FROM PLATE 13. A MAJOR GREAT BRITAIN RARITY OF WHICH APPROXIMATELY 20-30 EXAMPLES ARE KNOWN.
This stamp was accidentally released for sale when a few imprimatur sheets in Buff were perforated and mixed with normal inventory. The actual intended stamp was the issued 6p Gray (62; SG 146-147). It is believed 20-30 examples exist, all of which are used, and most are plagued by a myriad of faults. Few can compare to the quality of the stamp offered here.
With 2015 B.P.A. certificate. SG £25,000
EXTREMELY FINE. AN INCOMPARABLE QUALITY USED 1882 5-POUND ORANGE.
With its mathematically precise centering, incredible overall brilliance, full even perforations, and light and neatly placed cancel, this must rank as one of the very finest (if not the finest) used examples of the £5 Orange in existence
With 1970 Proschold certificate. SG £4,750
