VERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THIS "SOUTHERN RIGHTS" PATRIOTIC FLAG DESIGN AND UNUSUAL USED FROM A POST OFFICE OTHER THAN WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA, WHERE IT WAS PUBLISHED.

Although the concept of States' Rights is referred to in verses on Patriotic covers, this is the only flag design which incorporates the words "Southern Rights." It was published by T. S. Whitaker of Wilmington N.C., who also published Confederate songs, including "The Stonewall Quickstep" by John H. Hewitt.

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THIS "SOUTHERN RIGHTS" PATRIOTIC FLAG DESIGN USED FROM WILMINGTON SHORTLY BEFORE NORTH CAROLINA SECEDED. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE WITH THE UNITED STATES STAMP.
