Sale 1145 — United States Stamps
Sale Date — Wednesday, 14 December, 2016
Category — Modern Errors (Scott 2868b thru 3127c)

VERY FINE. ONE OF ONLY TWO PLATE BLOCKS OF THIS ISSUE WITH ALL FOUR STAMPS SHOWING A DOUBLE IMPRESSION OF THE ENGRAVED BLACK AND MAGENTA.
One pane of 20 of the Cranes Issue was discovered with double impressions. The top two rows of five show doubling of both the Black ("USA" and crane names) and Magenta engraved colors, including two plate blocks from the top corners of the pane. The next row of five shows doubling of the Black "USA" only and Magenta "29". The bottom five stamps on the pane are normal (see following lot for the bottom two plate blocks). This is a striking and very rare modern error. As this collection demonstrates, imperforate and color-omitted errors are found on many modern issues. Double impressions, however, are extremely rare on modern issues.
Ex Floyd. With 1999 P.F. certificate for the complete pane of 20
